It arrived...

When I ordered my Kitchen Aid, one of the reasons I bought it when I did was because I could get an dditional bowl and beater for FREE! It finally came in today! Its for single batch recipes and whipping cream and anything you can think of where you don't want to use the BIG bowl. Isn't it pretty.

Just like Mom...

Daisy is here visiting and she loves to lay in the sun...so you don't need to look very far to find Curly Sue. She has also taught her a very bad thing! Daisy love to eat the fresh vegetables right out of the garden, tomatoes, okra, etc. She has taught Curly Sue about the garden also. Curly Sue never went into the garden, could have cared less what we were doing there. But lately I have caught her with okra and she's been bringing tomatoes into the house to finish eating. BAD DOG!

what? it wasn't me!

just pretty fall flowers.

My Mom makes quilts and while we were going to the Fall Fairs at Amanda's we came across a quilt show. This was the only picture that turned out, but it reminded me of some my Mom has done in the past. This needle work is all done with ribbons. Just gorgeous!

Free Movie Monday...

UPDATE: this site http://www.insideredbox.com/codes/ has free codes for any day of the week. The only thing I saw was you have to read between the adds to get to the codes, but you might want to check it out.

Every Monday REDBOX Movies sends out a free movie code. Check out this website http://frugalisfab.blogspot.com/search/label/Redbox , she posts the new code each Monday and have a free movie/family fun night on REDBOX.
Check out the popcorn recipes on "All Recipes". I like using this recipe site because it allows you to search for recipes by the ingrediants you have on hand and also to change the number of servings your cooking.

Coupon Queens...

Amanda has posted a list of very good sites on her blog for you to check out. These are blogs of women who coupon, do rebates and post freebies. They explain exactly how to save and double up your coupons to get the best deals and also post which stores are having the best deals week by week. Alot of them are CVS ans Rite-Aid, which we don't have here, but they also list WalGreens's, K-Mart and this blog "The Cent*sible Sawyer" has savings for Wal Mart. Did you know according to Wal Mart coupon policy they will accept printed coupons? Wal Mart has even highlighted her blog on their website as one of the "Elevenmoms" see it here. So go on over and check out these blogs to save a little cash, every little bit helps, and make sure your printer has enough ink to print those coupons!

In case all this knowledge starts making you hungry check out "Bake or Break"... see if you don't end up drooling all over your monitor. Warning... keep a towel close by!

Going GREEN...

Amanda and Charles got me some reusable bags to start using. My first thought was "How do people know these are my bags, not some I just grabbed off the end of the counter?" So I tied left over ribbon and rick rack to each of the bags to personalize them. We also have a big freezer bag to put the frozen and refrigerator stuff in. Now to remember to actually use them.
  • NOTE: I used my bags this weekend when we went to 3 different stores. But even though I laid the bag on the counter for the girl to bag the items, she still put them into a plastic bag, so I took them back out and placed them in my bag. At another store I forgot to take the bag in, so I told the girl I didn't want a bag I would just carry out my 4 items. She gave me the funniest look and then said "OK?". I think we still have a long way to go in getting everyone on the wagon.

In our effort to save as much on the electric bill this winter as we can we went out and bought this water heater insulation blanket. (OK, we bought it last spring but we finally installed it today.) Do you ever think... we can do this...it shouldn't take just a few minutes...all you have to do is wrap it around and tape it - right? It did take us about an hour or so ( Kenneth and I always have our own ideas on how to do a project we probably spend more time discussing how we each think it should be done, before we actually get anything done.) But... here it is...

Not bad...

  • The other project I'm working on is... trying to get better organized in the house. Do you ever say... "where's the key to???" or "what's this key go to???" No, never. Well we do it all the time. So when we were at the home improvement store the other day I saw these...
you use each one to specifically label exactly what the keys are for and so your able to actually find them later, it come with a holder!
    How cool is that!
and then we still have the ones which came with their own key rings.

Big Sugar Golf Course...

Big Sugar is about 10 minutes from Charles and Amanda's house, so they got him a gift certificate for his birthday so he could go play. He went by himself the first time but wanted me to go see it and take pictures for him. It was very pretty and way different than any courses around here. You had alot of hills and teeing off over a cliff, very cool! Enjoy.

After we finished the ninth hole we drove around the houses which border the golf course and came across these white tail deer. A momma doe and her two babies. She stood still and let me take two pictures before the hopped off into the woods.

It's fixed...

I went to the TRU VALUE and got some very good help from the employees there, they said we would need to "tap" out the broken pipe .

this is the pipe tap

It worked like a dream and Kenneth was able to fix the problem and then we went to LOWES and purchased a new shower head.

Its one of those rain showers... How cool is that!

We have pressure...

Today we had a well service from town come out and replace or water well pump and tank with a new submersable pump and holding tank.
it's a 38 gallon tank set at 60/40 lbs of pressure, which means it turns on at 40 lbs and off at 60 lbs. We have lived in the house for 8 years and have always had to be careful when running water that you never had more than one thing going at a time. You never could take a shower and run the washer or dishwasher or even fill a pitcher with water at the same time. We had very limited water pressure and in the last couple of months its gotten even worse. Where you lost pressure even when all you had running was one thing.
So they came out and looked at the old tank and said it was really old, I said "well the house was built in 1972" and he replied "I know this tank system is from the 1920's" We were so excited when he finished putting in the new system we ran water in the washer, bathtub and kitchen sink all at the same time! So of course Kenneth and I are both wanting to take the first shower to try out the pressure and Kenneth wins. Then this happens...
the shower arm broke off in the wall! Kenneth said it wasn't from the new pressure but because it was rusted. We did ask the man if we could have a problem with the new pressure coming into the water lines, he didn't think we should...I'll keep you posted. OK, Amanda you can stop laughing now.
Just a note: before he ran the new pump he measured the depth of the well...we hit water at 14' and the bottom was at 48'. So we have 32' of water. Good information for the future.
